Intro / Why This Matters

A mud shot that goes straight in doesn’t come around often—but this one just hit Reddit and instantly hijacked the golf feed. A barefoot chip from a water hazard, 30 yards out, nothing but splash—and then nothing but cup. It’s one of the most absurdly clean outcomes we’ve seen from a mess like this.

Mud Sliggin’

So the background on this clip? No clue. No name, no course tag, no edit. Just a raw cell phone clip of a player standing ankle-deep in the hazard—barefoot, balanced in the slop. The pin is about 30 yards out, and the lie looks unplayable. It’s a shot most golfers would write off. For good reason, we’ve seen this before:

That’s what makes what happens next so ridiculous.

He takes the swing. Big splash. Somehow the ball lifts, flies clean, I thought for sure either him or the bystanders were destined for a mud pie:

Instead it flies out of that mess, bounces twice, and rolls directly into the hole. It’s an automatic clip for the highlight reel. The Reddit video cuts before we see any celebration, but the audio says it all—total disbelief.

TikTok from another angle, and it confirms everything. No trick shot. No gimmick. Just a legit 30-yard mud hole-out with all the mess included.

Reddit’s already flooding with reactions calling it everything from “shot of the year” to “he must’ve sold his soul.” The TikTok view locks it in—it’s real, and it’s impressive. I mean one false step for this guy and…

And if you think this kind of moment only happens to amateurs, think again. At the 2025 PGA Championship, Tom Kim went viral for a different kind of mud shot—face-first. He fell waist-deep into a marshy hazard while looking for his ball and came out covered head to toe. His post-round interview was classic. He laughed it off, admitted he had to rinse off mid-round, and won over the crowd.

Watch Kim’s full fall while he gives some post round commentary, Tom Kim is great and handled this moment perfectly:

This mud shot is already working its way across golf Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube. It’s a reminder that sometimes the ugliest lies produce the cleanest results. And whether you’re a Reddit weekend grinder or a Tour pro like Tom Kim, mud will find you eventually.
