There was never any doubt.
By the time Sunday rolled around, this one felt like a formality. Scottie had the lead, the confidence, and the course completely under control. He didn’t need a miracle or a heater — he just needed to keep doing what he’s been doing for the last three months: show up and remind everyone he’s the best in the world.
I gave him out Thursday in my Byron Nelson preview. I’m not trying to take a victory lap for that — picking Scottie to win in Texas at this point is just playing the odds. He owns these events. He wins at home. He wins on the road. He wins when he hasn’t touched a club in two weeks. The guy just wins.
Also great to see that even with all of his success he truly is humble and loves winning.
And while I didn’t back him outright this time (odds were too short to make it worth it), I still came out ahead. Sunday PGA bets has become my new favorite move — wait it out, scan the leaderboard, and hit the T5/T10 placements when the numbers are soft. Threw a few down and ended up catching a big tie — eight guys finished on the same number and they all cashed. Needed a clutch Birdie on 18 from Ricky Castillo but we cashed.

But let’s get back to Scottie, because what we’re watching isn’t normal. It’s calm, composed dominance. No drama, no flair, just a guy out there dissecting golf courses like he’s solving a crossword puzzle. He doesn’t blink. Doesn’t chase. Just keeps the ball in play and picks his spots. And if the putter even looks average? It’s over.
He’s now the clear favorite heading into the PGA Championship at Valhalla, and this time, I will be backing him early. No hesitations. I’ll be on him Thursday, and if by some miracle he’s not leading after the first two rounds, I’ll probably add more. If he’s within a few shots heading into Sunday? I’m in again. Scottie Thursday. Scottie Friday. Scottie Sunday. That’s the plan.
The rest of the field is going to have to play perfect just to make it interesting. And right now, “perfect” doesn’t seem to be enough.
